research into magazine name

In order to choose an approriate name for my magazine, i needed to ask my target audience for their opinions and views.

I chose ten possible names for my music magazine and then asked sixty people to vote for which name they thought would be best for my music magazine.

These were my results:

KERCHING: one vote
BEATZ: six votes
RELENTLESS: five votes
KUBE: twenty votes
CREASE:three votes
PULSE: fifteen votes

With these results in mind, i have come to the conclusion that the name of my music magazine will be KUBE

planning of the magazine

I am going to create a music magazine, which will include four photographs, and be made up of a front cover, contents, and double page spread. When planning the magazine, I firstly needed to choose what genre the magazine would be. In order to do this i researched different magazines, with different genres.
After looking at magazines such as Q magazine, Kerrang and Kiss.

After looking at these different genre magazines, I have decided tat the genre of my magazine will be pop, which represent music artists such as, lady Ga Ga, Beyonce, Neyo, J-Lo and Pixie Lott.

INSIDE
There are roughly 130 pages within this magazine.
twenty six of which are adverts, however there are also eight advertorials.
These adverts can be catergorized into types, which include: clothes, albums, and events.

Within this magazine there are roughly 32 double page spreads.

The maagzine maintains a unified house style throughout by using similar colours throughout the whole of the magazine.
60% of this magazine has a dark background.
Similarly, a similar font to the one used on the front page is used throughout.
This house style is appropriate for the target audience, as it used electric eye catching colours which resemble to those of a night club.

text on the front cover

The cover lines situated on the front cover promote the magazine by advertising what is inside the magazine, tempting the customer into buying the magazine and wanting to find out more.
The cover lines promote the interviews within the magazine, and the upcoming events which themagazine advertises.
The launguage used on the front cover of this magazine is very simplistic, yet affective.

Although the text is very short and sweet, it attracts the readers attention with its bold font and bright colours.

This cover is very simplistic in comparion to other music magazines such as "Q".
However similar to Q, Mixmag contains a lot of coverlines alog the

left/right side of the page.

However, unline Q, Mixmag focuses a lot more on the title and subheadings, than the image.

THE COVER

The name of the magazine is "Mixmag" it has been given this name as it resembles the "mixing" of the dance music which is included in this maagzine. The name also corresponds with the DJ'ing which is featured in this magazine.

The title of this Magazine is of a bright illuminous colour which stands out well on the dark photographed background. Similarly, the colours used in this title are they repeated in the coverlines of the magazine.

The main image of the magazine is of a DJ and a crowed. Although there is not a lot of colour in this image as it is very dark, and you can only see the outlines of the crowed, which makes the title of the magazine stand out well.
This image reaches out well to the target audience, as it represents the type of music (club/dance) with the DJ on the front cover.

Kerrangs House style

This kerrang magazine acheives a house style throughout by using the colours which are including in the front cover, such as in the title and other text, and including that throughout the magazine.

For example the colour from the text "PARAMORE" on the front page, is used throughout the magazine, in other title.

Similarly, the use of the yellow text included on the front cover, is also used in the contecnts and on other pages throughout the maagzine.

The magazine also acheives a unified house style, by using a similar font for titles and general text throughout. Simialrly, the use of launguage throughout is of a simialr taste, with short sentences used throughout in order to attract the readers attention.
